Winkworth has launched a new Knowledge and Regulation department in preparation for the impending Regulation of Property Agents (ROPA). With almost 100 franchisees and circa 800 staff across the network to qualify to a minimum level 3 standard, the business thought it vital to get a head start.
Winkworth is one of the only agencies to have an in-house tailored training academy. Situated in their Mayfair office, this dedicated part of the business ensures consistent knowledge and standards across the offices.
Training now sits within the new Knowledge and Regulation team who are dedicated to ensuring that all staff employed throughout the franchise network have access to multiple levels of training, guidance notes, legislative updates and compliance direction. As the property industry becomes more and more regulated, it is of upmost importance to Winkworth that all staff, regardless of role, are as qualified as they can always be, enabling them to provide the best customer service to clients.
“As someone who is a strong believer in professionalism, training and qualifications, I am enthused that the ROPA report and recommendations are still firmly on the table,” comments Sue Hopson, Head of knowledge and regulation. “At Winkworth we will continue to actively encourage our business owners and their teams to become qualified regardless of the speed at which the government moves and we have a range of courses to complement their learning. I fully believe the key to a successful business is not only working with a high profile, well established brand, but having a full understanding of the ever increasing legislation which comes with being a professional agent in either sales agency or lettings and property management.”
As well as offering bespoke training days throughout the year such as new starter induction and document training, Winkworth enlists the services of specialist trainers who have outstanding recognition in their respective fields to provide workshops and seminars to the network. These include a two-day programme in Lettings and Residential Property Management Qualification (Level 3), a one-day Residential Sales Qualification (Level 3) and a Leadership Programme for those aspiring to higher levels.
The Winkworth Hub provides access to in-house e-learning and enables staff to book training direct as per their chosen pathway. E-learning is available 24/7 to everyone in the group covering topics such as AML, Avoiding Bribery, Cyber Security Awareness, GDPR and software training.
Winkworth also offers new franchisee recruits a specifically tailored five-day course in order to prepare them to run a successful business.
“Raising Winkworth standards through constantly evolving and providing relevant training improves our profile as a network of committed, knowledgeable and qualified individuals whilst also ensuring the continued protection of the brand,” comments Sue.
