Crystal Palace is steeped in History, its name originating from the infamous Crystal Palace used in the 1851 great exhibition in Hyde Park, previously Sydenham Hill before its unfortunate demise in 1936. Crystal Palace Park is home to Dinosaur Court, with the first Dinosaur sculptures in the World. The park around the old site of the Crystal Palace is now home to the National Sports Centre where many famous athletes ply their trade. Crystal Palace centre has become more chic along Westow Hill, where you can find many refurbished wine bars and restaurants giving a real cosmopolitan feel to the area.
Crystal Palace is also very well located for Central London with excellent transport links found at Crystal Palace Station, Gypsy Hill Station, Penge West Station, and Anerley Station, trains take you directly to Clapham junction, Victoria Station or London Bridge Station. Transport links in Crystal Palace have always been excellent but will be improved even further with the opening of the East London Line extension. How to find Winkworth Crystal Palace office About property in Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace is home to the most interesting array of property in the South East region of London. When the actual Crystal Palace was moved to this area after the great exhibition, it also brought with it Victorian wealth. There are still some wonderful examples of grand Victorian residences to be found in Crystal Palace, most of which have been converted into large apartments, but you can still stumble upon the occasional original house.
Crystal Palace also has many houses from the 1930s, most with large gardens, ideal for family buyers. During the 1950s and 1960s there was a general shortage of social housing therefore you will find that some small estates were built in the area, mainly occupying the grounds of former large Victorian dwellings thus resulting in a rather eclectic mix of housing. Crystal Palace is in an elevated position and any properties with good views or in close proximity to the park are always very popular.
