A little bit of history
Southbourne once had its own pier, built to rival Bournemouth's. Unfortunately storms heavily destroyed it in the early part of the 20th Century and it was eventually taken down for safety reasons.
Need to know
Seafield Gardens is just a three-minute walk away from the local clifftop and beaches. It's held a Green Flag Award since 2001.
Pick up fresh fruit and veggies at Christchurch's Highs Street Market every Monday. Enjoy an afternoon's retail therapy at Castlepoint Shopping Centre. Get essentials at Christchurch Retail Park. Or take a short drive or hop on a bus to Bournemouth and Poole to explore their large range of shops too. Poole has the largest indoor shopping centre in Dorset, as well as a pretty quay at the end of the high street.
OUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO IN SOUTHBOURNE IS SIMPLY TO HEAD DOWN TO THE SEVEN MILE STRETCH OF AWARD-WINNING BLUE FLAG SANDY BEACHES, EITHER TO SOAK UP SOME SUN OR TO WALK ALONG THE PROMENADE.
