A little bit of history
Reading's history dates back to the eighth century, when its position on two rivers made it an ideal location for a market. The town later became famous for the 3Bs; Beer (Simonds Brewery), Bulbs (Sutton Seeds) and Biscuits (Huntley and Palmers). These businesses are no longer here today, but have been replaced by heavy-weight businesses such as BG, Microsoft, Oracle, Foster Wheeler, Jacobs and ING, with other renowned organizations such as Dell, HP, Waitrose making Reading's outskirts their home.
