Lemsford, Hertfordshire £2.45m

Brocket Hall’s hunting lodge houses Auberge du Lac, a five-star restaurant. It is run by Marcus McGuinness, formerly of the Michelin two-star restaurant, Hibiscus. He was awarded two AA rosettes in his first year there. The Crooked Chimney, just across the road from the estate, is an attractive, traditional establishment serving reasonable pub grub.
