A little bit of history
Worcester Park gets its name from the appointment of the 4th Earl of Worcester as the Keeper of the Park in 1606. In its history our area has been parkland and farmland, but the arrival of the Wimbledon to Epsom Railway and Worcester Park Mainline Station meant a residential transformation, setting the scene for the Worcester Park you see today.
Need to know
Ex-Prime Minister John Major was born here in Worcester Park.
Worcester Park boasts Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Co-operative supermarkets as well as numerous independent retailers including Woodwards, the local butchers. Our main shopping area is Central Road, known to locals as The High Street. There are also major shopping areas in nearby Sutton, Kingston and Epsom.
AS BEFITS OUR AREA'S NAME, IN WORCESTER PARK THERE ARE PLENTY OF THINGS TO DO IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS.
