At Winkworth, we are one of the few franchised estate agencies who don’t own any of the offices trading under our name. All of our offices are independently owned and operated and we take pride in the people who invest, run and work in these offices throughout the UK and beyond.

Each franchisee has exceptional knowledge of their local area and a lot of them take the time to get involved in their local communities. Not only is this a great advertising tool for their businesses, but it’s also important to have a presence within the local municipal.

Below, we hear from some of our franchisees and staff who are actively involved in their local areas and communities:

I’m certainly active in the local community! As well as being an owner of a local business I’m also an elected Councillor for the London Borough of Merton. I’ve been a school governor for the last seven years at Ricards Lodge High School in Wimbledon. I take an active role there supporting school events and am chair of finance. Having a knowledge of local education is useful for families moving to the local area. As well as being head coach of the Under 15’s at Old Emanuel RFC, I’m also Chair of the local Police Ward Panel and work with my local Safer Neighbourhood Team to discuss any local crime patterns or issues that may be occurring in the area and agree the priorities for the team, for instance extra patrols in parks or a reassuring presence.
Ed Foley – Franchisee - Wimbledon
Last year we focused on helping a local charity – Ark Cancer Centre. I took part in cycling from Basingstoke to Lands End in July and as a team we raised over £50k for the charity. This year I am part of the team ‘Ark Riders’ cycling from Ark cancer centre to the Arc de Triumph in Paris – this is once again to support the Ark Cancer Centre who must raise £5m.
As well as trying to raise awareness for Naomi House & Jacks place, plus St Michaels Hospice, this Christmas we donated Sherry to the local Irish Society ‘Golden Oldies’ Fish & Chips Christmas lunch!
Anna Collier – Sales & Lettings Manager - Basingstoke
I recently bought the Highcliffe branch of Winkworth and set about getting to know the locals and involving myself in the community. All my staff are local and have been with the office for a number of years so getting stuck in was very important to me. We saw that Highcliffe School were holding a winter fair to raise vital funds to provide better resources and facilities for students, including another rain shelter, so we were very quick to sponsor the fair, which in total raised a whopping £10,000.
Simon Barnes – Franchisee - Highcliffe
