Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

Following six weeks of refitting my office, I can finally don a jacket and tie and get back to my real passion of selling and letting of country houses and properties in Salisbury. Renovating and refurbishing my grade II Listed office building largely myself has been immensely satisfying. Although, having moved house to the Chalke Valley earlier in the year, I have already polished up my renovation skills, and 27 years in property has certainly helped! Poppy has been my constant companion through the building work and whilst it is always nice to have her by my side, the extent of meaningful conversation it is possible to have with a working cocker spaniel puppy is somewhat limited. As we opened our doors this week, it was wonderful to be working with Sarah and all the Winkworth team. Months of meticulous planning have brought together the largest agency brand in London with a national network of offices, sophisticated digital and main stream marketing, into a Jacobean office on Milford Street. This week sees the start of the autumn school term, the beginning of the fieldsports autumn season and a wane of those gorgeous summer temperatures, as the sun drops slowly in the sky. It is also the start of the country house market, with 17 weeks ahead to complete sales for first Christmases in the country. Salisbury has strong links to the past but being 90 minutes from London and with so many good schools and the surrounds of such beautiful countryside, it is very much on the London buyers radar. It is too early to say which way the London property market will go this quarter but those seeking a life in the country in exchange for their terraced house in London will continue to make the move to Salisbury, as we did.
