Discretion is the better part of valour

'Those who spare their words truly knowledgable and those who are discreet are intelligent.  Even fools, keeping silent, are considered wise'.  Or to put it another way, 'with provenance comes discretion'. 

The term bespoke is often used but rarely refers to its origional meaning of to 'speak for something', that is, to order something specifically made for you.  

At Winkworth Salisbury around half of our work is purely bespoke.  Discreet, off market transactions, which perfectly suit both buyer and seller, and even landlord and tenant!  We ebrace an ethos of being traditionally inovative, using the best in technology with thirty years experience in moving people.  The internet has not replaced our beautiful offices and emails have not replaced the telephone or meeting in person, yet as an industry, our clients are thrilled when we ring them and delighted we do what we said we would and speak to them about their loves and needs, rather than just leaving this to a computer.

In a showy, digital age, there has perhaps never been a time when it is more important to listen to your customers and allow them to continue to enjoy the discretion they appreciate in every other part of their lives.

Yet the results are the same, and in many instances superior to traditional sales.  Purely because both sides can commit fully, safe in the knowledge they are being treated with care, discretion and privacy.  Why wouldn't a buyer go the extra mile and pay that bit more just to buy the house they wanted, when there was the security by doing so they could, without the hustle and bustle of the open market.  Certainty has a price, and in country house terms that is a high one, but what high end is not expensive?  And a first class ticket costs more for good reason.

The same applies for those clients who prefer a more discreet approach.  A private sale provides privacy and exclusivity. Viewings are still conducted on your behalf by the agent, in the usual fashion but the process feels less invasive, less public and more on the terms of the client. Bespoke, which is the client led nature of our business. 

Service is not a call centre.  Service is to serve, to fulfill the requirements of a client.  This should not be the cheapest option but it should be the route which achieves the goals of those involved.
