Winkworth, the UK’s leading franchise network of estate agents, is expanding further in north London, with a new office opening in fashionable West Hampstead – its area of operation extending to neighbouring Belsize Park and Hampstead.
Winkworth West Hampstead is the third office for franchisee Neil Sloam, who runs the Maida Vale and St John’s Wood offices. The West Hampstead office will be headed up by 31-year-old Jack Peet, who has over 10 years’ experience as an agent and had been running his own agency in the West Hampstead area for nearly four years before joining Winkworth. The new office has opened in the heart of West Hampstead in West End Lane.
Neil Sloam said: “Our new West Hampstead office means we now have a substantial presence in prime north London and a natural progression for us beyond St John’s Wood and Maida Vale. Jack has extensive experience in the West Hampstead, Belsize Park and Hampstead areas and a brilliant in-depth knowledge of the range of properties from studios to substantial period homes. We have had a strong lettings and management presence in the area for a number of years and we look forward to expanding this from our new office under the direction of Scott Sheldon, who has been running this side of the business for over 20 years from our St John’s Wood office.”
Star-studded West Hampstead is home to a number of famous residents, including actors Emma Thompson, Derek Jacobi, Jim Carter and Immelda Staunton. The area attracts young professionals and young families to a broad range of properties in the area, from handsome red brick mansion blocks to Victorian and Edwardian terraces and larger period houses selling at around £5m. West End Lane is the main hub for the area with a good mix of independent shops, the popular Tannin and Oak wine bar, the Black Lion pub and Zia Lucia pizzeria.
Leisure facilities include the 120-year-old Cumberland Tennis Club, with its thriving squash section, West Hampstead Hockey Club and Hampstead Cricket Club, which all share a home in Alvanley Gardens and the legendary Acol Bridge Club in West End Lane. The wild open spaces of Hampstead heath are within walking distance of West Hampstead, with open air bathing ponds and acres of walking, riding and cycling tracks.
Highly rated schools include Emmanuel CE Primary and West Hampstead Primary, plus a high concentration of outstanding independent prep and secondary schools across the Hampstead area, including South Hampstead High and University College School.
Transport connections are excellent with the West Hampstead station hub in West End Lane offering Jubilee line, the Overground and Thameslink connections.
Winkworth West Hampstead manager Jack Peet said: “West Hampstead, Belsize Park and Hampstead may be neighbouring areas but they do attract quite diverse buyers. Belsize Park tends to appeal to midlife professionals and families with older children with its large period conversions and substantial houses, while Hampstead has international appeal for business entrepreneurs, city executives, as well as high profile personalities working in the arts, cultural and media worlds. I have also handled many moves within the three areas to reflect different stages of people’s lives.”
Dominic Agace, Chief Executive, Winkworth, with over 100 franchised offices nationwide, including 60 in London, said: “We are delighted that our long standing franchisee Neil Sloam is extending his successful presence in this part of prime north London to offer the high standards of service for which he is known in the area, with the support and added in-depth expertise of Jack Peet across the wider Hampstead area.”
He added: “We are continuing our expansion in London and would like to hear from property professionals who want to own their own business, with the support of Winkworth Franchising and our nationwide network.”
