Winkworth increases coastal network with new office in Cornwall

Winkworth Franchising Ltd today announces the growth of its coastal offering with the latest addition to its network in Fowey, Cornwall.

Winkworth Fowey is owned and operated by David Elderkin. Previously trading as Fowey River for more than 15 years, the business already has an excellent reputation locally with buyers and sellers. The team of four property experts will remain the same and the new Winkworth office will now focus on strengthening its marketing and widening its selling territory. With a buoyant second home market along the coast in Cornwall, the Fowey office will reap the benefits of Winkworth’s large network of offices which provides a valuable link to key buyers in London and the home counties.

David Elderkin comments: “Rebranding to Winkworth was a natural progression for our business, having already built ourselves a solid reputation and customer base over the last 15 years. Cornwall, and Fowey in particular, are in increasingly high demand for people looking to move here for a change of lifestyle, and we felt that with Winkworth’s branding and London to Country link, we could further tap into that market of second and holiday home buyers to maximise our office’s potential. Joining Winkworth opens up an exciting opportunity for us and we’re looking forward to seeing where this new journey leads.”

Dominic Agace, Winkworth’s CEO, adds: “I’d like to welcome David and his team to our network. They possess all the passion, drive and industry experience that we look for and I’m sure the Fowey office will add real value to our coastal offering. We have a number of very successful offices along the south coast and we’re thrilled to be able to add this new location and expand into Cornwall.”

The current average value of a property in Fowey currently stands at £418,227, up 2% in the last 12 months*. The town benefits from good bus and ferry services, and is easily connected with London and other locations around Cornwall from nearby Par and Lostwithiel train stations. The area is a clear choice for those looking to move to the country and is also a popular holiday destination for many, including a number of famous faces.

Winkworth currently has around 100 franchised offices, as well as a Mayfair-based office providing a support platform for all offices. The franchise’s support services include: marketing, PR, client services, country house and international departments, corporate services, China desk, recruitment, training academy and IT support. In Q2 2019, we were pleased to see activity in the central London property market pick up following two slower moving quarters.
