Standing upon the shoulders of giants

The latest series from Professor Brian Cox aired last night and was, as ever, enthralling. This extraordinary eloquent physicist makes science and learning uber cool, which is as it should be but was not always so. Another extraordinary physicist, Isaac Newton said "If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants". Whether this paid homage to other leading scientists and mathematicians or was a veiled snipe at a competitor, we will never know. However, it sums up well the progress of development. As an agency we specialize in fine houses. These range from the ancient to new and embrace technological advances from the seventeenth century to modern day. Often houses have been added to, with much older hearts to be found behind a Georgian facade. The service and guidance we provide comes from almost a third of a centuries experience but as a shop, we would be nothing without lovely things to sell. Yet, the retail experience when it comes to property in this country doesn't always equate to other outlets. Why would the brochure or showroom for a high end car be any better than that for a house' In our view, customers deserve better and we design our high street premises to be inviting and enjoyable places to visit. Our building has a Jacobean heart and Georgian frontages, yet we have introduced contemporary style and the best technology. Equally, some of The Brewery House is delightfully low tech. In marketing period property we are fortunate to act on behalf of owners whose properties such as the house and coach house at New Street described by Pevsner as “a stately three-storeyed four-bay house of the eighteenth century. Doorway with attached Tuscan columns, metope frieze, and pediment.” in a place described by Bill Bryson as "There is no doubt in my mind that Salisbury Cathedral is the single most beautiful structure in England and the close around it the most beautiful space. Every stone, every wall, every shrub is just right. It is as if every person who has touched it for 700 years has only improved it. I could live on a bench in the grounds."
