A room with a view

I love London and I loved living and working there, but I am sure this was in no small part due to the lovely view I had over Parsons Green, which kept my soul satisfied with the need to see green spaces and a change of the seasons through the trees. When I moved to a tree lined avenue it was not the same and a year later, we had moved to our weekend cottage which overlooked the Test. A view lifts the spirits and stirs the soul. It is comforting and reliable but at the same time, ever changing. Thirty three and thirty five New Street are a deliciously elegant nineteenth century property, full of period charm and grace yet now everything is of an age where the next owner can make it their own and continue their chapter of this wonderful townhouse and coach house. In a time when we look back fondly upon our history and an age gone by, life above and below stairs was as full and fascinating as enthralls us in each new episode at Downton. Perhaps we never really own these buildings but as custodians for our own chapters, to be bathed in a view so beautiful has to be beneficial. With such an outlook, surely dinner party conversations will never be quite the same again. Matthew Hallett Winkworth Salisbury
