Winkworth the Bear did us Proud!

We are a big supporter of local hospice 'Grove House' and last Saturday sponsored their 'Midnight Walk' - a ten mile night hike around St Albans. Along with hundreds of fundraisers, our very own 'Winkworth the Bear' hiked the whole ten miles in full fur and was among the first finishers. However owing tothe high temperatures - - and unlike Top Gear's 'The Stig' - Winkworth the bear was unmasked and revealed as our very own Graham Coton - shown here in full on 'Winkie' mode and somewhat patriotically if unexplainedlycompleting the ten miles with one of the office flags! As well as completing the walk and sweating buckets, Graham helped the St Albans office raise £1000 for this amazing charity. Hats ( or bear heads!) off to Graham. We're all very proud !

There is ONE HUGE difference this time: political stability is 'in' and this government is here to stay for 5 years. A little known change of wording in the 'Fixed term parliament act 2011' means...

Feels Like - 1992 all over again!

For those of you still in short trousers (or skirts) in 1992 let me enlighten you..The UK economy had been in recession for years, fiscal policy hadn't worked , Labour had lurched to the left and avuncular John Major was fighting an election in May. I'd been trading about 2 years by this stage and couldn't understand why we were so busy with nothing at...

Changing face of Estate Agency

Just a normal Saturday in the office - except there's no 'office' for mein St Albanstoday! Saturdays used to be spent taking enquiries from buyers and sellers in our High Street office and of course showing buyers around possible purchases. Since the transition from a one off local agent to 'Winkworth', I find myself increasingly adapting my work practises to suit the new client base:...
