Winkworth expands into Suffolk as franchisee acquires estate agency in Southwold

Winkworth is pleased to announce the addition of a new office to its network in Southwold, Suffolk. The latest addition is the well-established Halford Wetmore which has been acquired by Winkworth Poringland franchisee Jamie Moore.

Winkworth Southwold is set to complement Jamie’s existing Poringland office which he opened alongside fellow Director Kylee Cates in January 2018. This follows a year of unprecedented growth for Winkworth Poringland, which was one of the fastest growing offices in the company last year. This new office provides greater geographical coverage for Winkworth by expanding for the first time into the Suffolk market, as well as providing a valuable link to London buyers for sellers in the area.

The Southwold office will remain at its current location at 45 High Street, Southwold, with its previous owner Daniel Wetmore staying on as a consultant to ensure a smooth transition for the business and its clients. Stuart Tricker, a seasoned agent of more than 20 years, will also join the team as Branch Partner to help drive forward the success of the business.

Jamie says: “Acquiring this new office is a great opportunity for us to expand into Suffolk and extend our client base within a fantastic new area. Southwold has a strong property market, which is particularly popular with London buyers looking for second homes, and there is no other agent locally that can provide a direct link to London buyers like Winkworth can. Naturally, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to tap into this market and we’re thrilled with the support we have received from Winkworth to help us grow. I’m really looking forward to working with the entire team at the new Winkworth Southwold office, whose experience and knowledge of the local area are second to none.”

Dominic Agace, Winkworth’s CEO, adds: “We’re delighted to see this growth from one of our newest franchisees, not only from being one of our best performing offices in their first year of trading, but also as they expand into new territory. The past year has been tough for many, but we’re proud that despite this and with the support we offer, many of our franchisees are still able to achieve their goals of growing and developing their services.” Southwold is a quintessential seaside town and holiday hotspot in Suffolk with an average property value of £479,288*. Just over two hours’ drive from London, it is a highly popular location for second home owners coming from London. Southwold is also home to Adnam’s Copper House Distillery, which brings in much tourism to the town.

Winkworth Southwold is located at 45 High Street, Southwold, IP18 6DJ. The team can be contacted on 01502 723007 or email:

Winkworth Central London Market Update - Q2 2019

In Q2 2019, we were pleased to see activity in the central London property market pick up following two slower moving quarters. As expected, the market saw a boost in transactions after the Brexit deadline passed at the end of March when home movers decided, despite no further clarity on the country's position in leaving the EU, to abandon the 'wait and see' approach that...
