Streatham Food Festival

Winkworth Streatham is proud to be sponsoring the fourth annual Streatham Food Festival, which will be running between 16th-18th August. The Streatham Food Festival has lots to offer those looking for a fun day out, starting with a range of local restaurants offer tasting plates of their signature dishes for a cost of just £2-£5, meaning that you can sample a range of dishes from around the world and can note which restaurants to return to for a great evening out. In addition to this, there will be a range of food stalls including Elephant Bakehouse, Rio Juice Bar and Fish Tale, all of which will be offering great food as well as master classes to teach a range of skills such as how to turn leftovers into nutritious Caribbean dishes and how to involve your children in creating their own menus and healthy packed lunches – all of which are free to attend. Supermarket giant Morrisons will also be hosting master classes to teach new cooking skills throughout Sunday. There will also be the opportunity to visit a unique waste-food pop-up restaurant that will be serving a three course vegetarian meal using surplus produce from local businesses and the Best Before Project. And for those looking for a bit of challenge, a few of the local restaurants have laid down the gauntlet for anyone who thinks they can have a stomach large enough. The Pied Bull is hosting a pie-eating contest, where contestants have to eat as many large pies as they can without their hands. Pratts & Payne is hosting a man vs food challenge, where contestants who manage to eat a 1.5lb Hueves Rancheros within 30minutes get it for free. And finally, The Waterfront are asking their challengers to eat the hottest pizza known in Streatham, with those who manage the feat getting the meal for free, as well as cold beer and their picture of the wall of fame. So if you fancy the challenge, or simply want to experience all the culinary delights make sure you head down to the festival. While you’re there, don’t forget to say hi to our Winkworth team who will be wandering around the stalls and improving their skills in the master classes!
