Step up or step out

For any business, staffing and re-staffing is the ever-constant project. Years ago, IBM ran an advert announcing 'the most important people walk in your door every morning. They are your staff'. For those all-important employees, it's the constant quest to climb the ladder higher and higher. For some it's the money, for some it's the belief that it's the 'done thing,' and for others it's that they truly believe they can do a better job than those that are there now. But, is there any room higher up the ladder' How long do I have to wait' Or do I need to leave and do my own thing' Our Director James Trimble talks to a number of people mulling over the idea of joining Winkworth estate agent franchise, who have joined 'career firms', but in many cases they are spending a good portion of their career waiting for the senior manager/partner to fail, leave or retire. In the years that some of these conversations have taken place, they could have left for another firm/set up on their own and climbed back up to where they were before and beyond. After signing up quite a few new franchisees in 2014 to join Winkworth, in turn opening brand new offices, a number of experienced and impressive estate agents have taken that confident leap to step out of a very good job with comfortable potential career prospects, and set up on their own. Knowing that it will be tough in the early days, but rewarding in the long term is a major driving factor. We're always keen to chat to good quality estate agents who find themselves in similar positions. Some conversations start slowly and take time to find the right shop before speeding up and taking that step. If you're unsure, then just remember 'You cannot stay in one place. You either go forward or backward. Step up or step out.' You decide. If you're interested in joining Winkworth and owning your own office, please contact James Trimble or Gina Piper on 020 7355 0200 / jtrimble@winkworth.com / gpiper@winkworth.com
