Here’s to London, the best city in the world

This June, the resolve of Londoners has been challenged, but as usual, London has stood firm and unashamedly defiant.

The benefits of living and working in London are endless. From its culture and renowned entertainment to its history and status as a leading place to invest and do business, London is an epicentre of everything joyous and progressive.

This June, the Grenfell Tower disaster and crazed fanatics challenged the resolve of the city, but as usual, London has stood firm and unashamedly defiant. The message from Londoners is unified: life will go on, democracy will go on, and we will go on.

Londoners have been quick to show defiance in the most British of ways: humour. Just like the #BritishThreatLevel hashtag garnered a stream of witty posts that poked fun at terrorism and all that it stands for after the Manchester attack this year, the city was quick to stand tall and carry on.

We would like to pay our own special thanks to the emergency and security services who have shown the utmost bravery in the face of adversity on our doorstep. Men and women, both in Manchester and here in London, have demonstrated courage, resolve and dedication, often running toward danger rather than running away. As reports continue to come in, we would like to pay our respects to those who lost their lives, the heroes who help to make this country a better place and the unsung heroes who are determined to go about their week as normal.

Since Winkworth was first established in 1835, we have grown to know and love our London neighbourhoods across the city. We pride ourselves on our community approach and getting to know the spirit of the area: who lives there, what’s going on throughout the year and matching newcomers to homes that they can thrive in.

From all of us here at Winkworth, we would like to offer our support, comradery and good will. Locally and nationally we stand as one, and we’re not going anywhere!

The intrinsic links between property and business sectors are striking. It’s not just homeowners that want high houses prices in the UK. It’s also the Treasury, which came in receipt of an extra £1.1bn as a result of Stamp Duty surcharge yields; the banking sector as mortgage lending hits its highest rate (January ’17) since 2008; and British businesses, who rely on confidence micro and...
