Detached homes make a comeback
Surrey estate agents Winkworth has seen a new report from The National House Building Council (NHBC) that states more detached homes are being built now than at the height of the last property peak in 2007. There is always demand for detached properties for sale in Surrey, and it's great to hear that 38,113 new build detached properties nationwide were registered in 2014 - which is the highest figure since 2004. In fact, the NHBC reported that detached houses were the second most registered house type last year, just beaten by flats/apartments (26% and 33%, respectively). Surrey estate agents say that while a glut of apartments is great for first-time buyers, investors and downsizers, there are many families in the county who are looking for the space, style and privacy a detached home affords. Although the upturn in brand new detached homes being built will go some way to address the undersupply in the market, Winkworth branches still hold waiting list of buyers looking for detached houses for sale in Surrey. This year is a fantastic time to sell a detached property, as the local market is fast-moving and fluid thanks to favourable changes to the stamp duty system and continuing low rates of interest on mortgages. If you have a detached property in Surrey and are thinking of selling, contact your local branch of Winkworth for home moving advice and a free valuation. If your property search includes detached properties for sale in Surrey, here's a quick snap shot of where you can find detached homes and in what style: St George's Hill - this private estate in Weybridge is the location for some of the most lavish detached homes in the south east of England. As well as resale properties, there are some exciting one-off new build homes, including March House at Four Winds Park - which includes five bedrooms, a cinema room and an outdoor swimming pool. The town's pretty villages are home to some fine examples, including a well-appointed dwelling dating back to 1786 located in Bentley, and a Grade II listed property in Runfold.
