SAFEagent Awareness Week 14-20 May

This week is the first annual National SAFEagent Awareness Week (14-20 May). The week has been launched in a bid to help raise public awareness of the importance of choosing a lettings agency covered by a Client Money Protection Scheme. This means that deposits and rentals are covered by insurance and will be refunded in the event of an agent going out of business or misappropriating client funds.

Hollande’s victory set to affect the market as French buyers look to move to London

Socialist Francois Hollande’s electoral victory this weekend in France, marks the end of Sarkozy’s reign. The move to the left will bring some big changes for the wealthy French. One of the most notable changes that Hollande intends to introduce is a 75% tax on anyone earning over €1 million. Winkworth agents are predicting that more French people will look to move to the UK where they will be taxed at 50% on their earnings.
